an art idea

on something post card size, create something that reflects "obstacle to global justice." when it's done, mail it to work of art...address coming...include one word that might be a remedy - or part of it - for the problem. then sometime in the early fall, we'll weave them together as one work and light one candle representing each word then use the candles to torch the work.

i'll video tape it so that if you're not in seattle, you can still participate.

Isaiah 30:27
See, the Name of the LORD comes from afar, with burning anger and dense clouds of smoke; his lips are full of wrath, and his tongue is a consuming fire.

to be or not to be

so, i posted about this on my main blog, but do you think an organization like this should exist? does art become not art when we lay our hands on it with agenda? or is "work of art" a ministry of intention rather than agenda? or are we simply tapping something that desperately needed tapping so that it could truly exist?

before i launch us full speed into a year of fullness, i want to wrestle with wether not we should even exist.

my church's favorite reason for everything it does is "we've always done it." work of art will not become this. work of art must be constantly examined or it must stop all together. it's not a race i'm willing to exhaust myself and others in only to stop mid way unsure of why i am running at all.

changing the world can only be a work of art

Work of Art Ministries is a small collaborative art community that seeks to "change the world" by using art to raise funds and awareness for the two-thirds world (aka third world).

Look for postings from our not-so-fearless leaders on what's going on, art ideas, questions to wrestle etc.
